Mount spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Championship outfit, Derby County.
During his spell under Frank Lampard at Derby, Mount would score 11 and assist six in 44 appearances across all competitions.
On signing a new deal, Mount had this to say:
“It’s a massively proud moment for myself and my family. I joined this club at six years old and it was always my goal to play for the first team one day.
“I’m really looking forward to the coming season now and working hard to have an impact here at Chelsea. I’ve been at the club for a long time already and hopefully I’ll stay for a long time to come.” As quoted by Chelsea’s official website.

Very proud to have signed for an additional 5 years @ChelseaFC. I joined the club at the age of six and it feels like home. We have a great team, with so many exciting young players and I can’t wait to get the season started.

Lampard & Chelsea’s youth
Mount committing himself to Chelsea is excellent news for the Blues given they cannot sign a player for the next two windows.
As a result of their transfer ban, Lampard will likely have to look to Chelsea’s vast youth reserves to help support his squad.
Mount could certainly be one of those players, especially at the start of the forthcoming campaign with Loftus-Cheek out injured.
