Today’s Swearing-In Ceremony Of Ministers
Today’s Swearing-In Ceremony Of Ministers
Finally, in what appears a slight departure from the 2015 experience of President Muhammadu Buhari, the Ministers are today being sworn in to begin overseeing various ministries.
Below we bring you 5 highlights of the ceremony which took place at the Council Chamber of the State House.
The ceremony began at about 11am when President Muhammadu Buhari stepped into the Council Chamber of the State House.
Upon arrival, he immediately started the proceedings for the inauguration of the ministers-designate with the rendition of the National anthem.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo got to the Council Chamber earlier at around 10.58am along with his close aides.
The President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari who is presently in the eye of the storm could be seen specially shaking his favorites among the ministers as he went round to also shake them all as they took their oath of office.
Thirdly, the ministers were sworn in and took their oath of office without their ministries being made known yet. This is to be announced shortly after.
Malami was sworn at about 12:18
Alhaji Lai Mohammad was sworn in at about 12:20
In a surprising twist of events the embattled Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita was present at today’s swearing-in ceremony of ministers at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
She had stayed away from the retreat for ministers-designate on Monday and Tuesday.
She was scheduled to make a presentation on Tuesday, but she didn’t turn up, amid speculations earlier on Monday that she had turned in her resignation.
Oyo-Ita is under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over alleged financial infractions to the tune of N3bn.
President Buhari gave his closing remarks at about 1:15pm after which the portfolios were announced by him.
